What do you do when you love a dress and it is sold out everywhere? You make it.

When I saw this color block dress I fell head over heels in love and I was so ready to buy it, but womp, I couldn’t find it anywhere. So I looked around to see if I could find fabric that was comparable and I did. So I made the dress.

I have a youtube video here of my process but for a quick break down this was what I did to simplify the process of making this dress. The dress is pretty much made of 5 tiers each tier wider than the other

– Top tier bust area I cut 1.5 x bust measurement

– 2nd tier area I cut area 1.5  hip measurement

– 3rd and 4th tier I cut 2 x hip measurement.

–  Depending on the widths of your cuts you will possibly have to join pieces of fabric to make one long piece.

– Gather and sew all your tiers together

– Hem top and bottom of your dress

– Draw lines on your bodice to guide where you need to shirr and shirr stitch your bodice

– Cut out and sew your straps 3 x 20 inches( four straps)

– Figure out where you would like your straps on the dress, pin and sew them on.

That sums up the process of the dress. You can see the visual in the video.

Fabric I used was a cotton Gauze 3 yards of each color. Fuschia here and Coral Here
