What can I say what can I say. I have been seeing these beautiful bustier dresses on Pinterest and instagram and didn’t think anything of making them. I then happened to see a few videos on on instagram on how to make them. Still didn’t think anything of them. Then I saw Marcia of Keechii B Style in one she made and I was in love.

I stalked her page for the details on what pattern she used, found it and for some reason forgot about it again smh. During my usual youtube scrolling I ended up finding the tutorial for the Rose Cafe Bustier Dress by Daria Atelier. OMG this was the most satisfying sewing tutorial to watch and she made it look so doable. So I caved an bought the pattern and here I am.

Let me say that I thoroughly enjoyed sewing up this dress. I love everything about it, so don’t be surprised if you see more of these added to my wardrobe in different variations. I wanted it made especially for mothers day(not that I was going anywhere) I work it for my mini shoot LOL.

Here is my pattern review

Pattern Review

Pattern Description: Rose Cafe Bustier Dress

Pattern Sizing: I made a size XL and it fit me just right. The cups showed a lettering of E so I should have realized that and cut a D. I readjusted later

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes it did

Were the instructions easy to follow? I followed the video tutorial. It was so easy to follow along. The instructor mentioned somewhere she was nervous that her English was not perfect, but I say you know that an instructor is the best when they can teach you something and their first language isn’t English. Just a random observation.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the style and everything about the pattern. There is nothing I disliked

Fabric Used: I used an African Print (ankara) fabric. This one isn’t the wax print but is lightweight cotton and more fluid.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:

I left out the interfacing part, which I should have at least added to the cups. I was being cheap and lazy. I also opted for a full skirt bottom which was an old project I never finished. I figured perfect, this will work.

Would you sew it again? Yes I would like to make this in formal, special occasion wear fabric.
